Cliffset is a durable, easy to clean set of portable cutlery for grownups on the go. In contrast to minimalist products made for backpackers, Cliffset represents a civilized compromise between an elegant eating experience and compactness of carry.
The obvious downside to carrying your own cutlery is keeping it clean while you’re out and about. We’ve solved this problem by including a multifunction cleaning tool right in the kit. With an on-board mini spray bottle of rubbing alcohol, you can scrape, wipe and sanitize the utensils to ensure they’re sparkling clean and ready for next use.
The fork has been carefully tuned specifically to the way we eat lunch. It’s far shorter than a traditional formal dinner fork, yet the head is wider and more generously curved to hold a satisfyingly full bite. Larger than usual tine spacing makes for easier cleaning.
The knife has a surprisingly sharp and effective serrated edge. The rounded blade tip profile is more useful when cutting inside deeper bowls, bento boxes or takeout containers. The tip is rounded so you can take the kit through a security checkpoint.
The spoon is a hybrid of a teaspoon and a soup spoon - it has a rounder, deeper bowl for more volume, but still fits perfectly in the lips when savoring yogurt or gelato.
The handles are cropped to be as short as possible without affecting the use and feel.
Iterative in-house mockups and prototypes are indispensable to reveal ideal functional geometries and confirm ergonomics of the tools. Various carry case architectures were explored, with the final configuration found to be the most compact and accessible.
