A versatile countertop cooking appliance you can monitor and control with your phone - from anywhere with an internet connection. With the Cooc companion smartphone app, you can do more than simply set this pot to cook at low, medium or high.
Cooc marries laboratory-grade precision heating, an intuitive smartphone-based interface, and sophisticated kitchenware design. Whether you’re a fan of meats cooked slow n’ low, a maven of molecular gastronomy, or just feeling too busy to orchestrate a worthy weeknight dinner, Cooc offers everyone an improved, immersive cooking experience.
Cooc downloadable recipes contain data that controls the unit for you. Temperature and cooking times are automatically set by the recipe program, and adjust to your past preferences. More complicated cooking programs will generate a temperature-over-time graph, which can be monitored and manipulated to your liking. Recipe specific push notifications alert you when your dish is ready or when action needs to be taken.
Information from the unit’s weight sensor can also control cooking, modulating heat so a balsamic reduction sauce will be reduced by exactly 75% without worry of burning it.
With conventional cookers, you’re unable to maintain the perfect cooking temperature throughout the process. If you’re not at home, it’s impossible to monitor or intervene if plans change. Some recipes call for a 5 hour cook time, yet you work an 8 hour day. Some recipes call for an initial, brief high-temp sear, followed by a low-temp tenderizing braise for several hours, finished with increasing the temperature to 165˚F at the last minute for safe serving. With recipe-specific cooking programs to select from, and an easy click and drag interface to create your own, it’s easy to pull off a fancy recipe without even being in the room.
It’s much more than a programmable slow cooker. It’s a Sous Vide machine, a rice cooker, a roaster, a deep fryer, a steamer, you can even use it to make yogurt. With powerful yet precise heating control, you can sear meat at high temperature, fry croissant-donuts at a carefully maintained 350˚F, or gently poach eggs to perfection at an exact 64.5˚C. Cooc includes a self-basting lid and a perforated steaming and frying basket that fits neatly inside.
The idea of slow cooking is far from new, but has enjoyed a recent upsurge in popularity as a part of the slow food / real food movement. Proteins in particular benefit from a low and slow cooking process, where tough collagen transforms into velvety gelatin, and natural enzymes have time to internally tenderize meats before higher temperatures destroy them.
Sous Vide cooking has exploded in popularity and product offerings in recent years, taking slow cooking to the next level. Sous Vide cookers offer precision heating and repeatable consistency for perfectly cooked proteins. However, Sous Vide machines are single-use appliances, made only for cooking eggs or foods sealed in plastic bags.
The Cooc can do Sous Vide, and so much more.
Cooc is equipped with a collection of technologies that allow you to create kitchen miracles.
Thermal Probe
In addition to the thermostat in the base, a tethered probe thermometer can be inserted through a self-sealing aperture in the lid, taking internal temperature readings that precisely control heating power. A dishwasher-safe detachable probe and retractable cable keep things neat and clean.
Refrigeration
A solid state 50W Peltier effect Thermoelectric cooling chip keeps cold food in the pot safely chilled from morning until it’s time to start cooking after noon.
Induction Heating
Heat is generated via an 1800W induction coil, for efficient and fast heat input. Dual thermostats control heating. The induction coil excites the atoms in the thick stainless steel interior layer, heating only the metal of the interior wall while the bottom stays cool to the touch.
Weight Sensor
Under the glass there’s a scale so Cooc knows when your rice is done cooking, and you can track the evaporation of a stock or sauce while you’re away. For recipes that measure by weight, you can tare the scale and add ingredients directly to the pot without pre-measuring. When the pot is removed, the entire ceramic-glass cooktop is also a handy kitchen scale.
Pot
Inspired by thermal cookers (popular in times past and in places where access to electricity is not widespread), the pot is vacuum insulated, double walled stainless steel. This insulates the food inside for decreased energy consumption during cooking and better temperature consistency. The bottom and sides of the pot are insulated from the interior, so food stays hot for hours, the exterior stays cool to the touch, and it can be set down anywhere without a trivet.
WiFi Internet Connection
A wireless connection allows you to monitor and control the Cooc right on your phone, from the couch, the gym or the office - anywhere there’s an internet connection.
The base contains all the heating, cooling and control componentry. It’s low profile so the pot is easily lifted off, even when full. With the pot removed, the base functions as an convenient portable induction cooktop. Featuring a durable and sanitary ceramic-glass top and a recessed track for the pot to rest in, it also works with any iron or steel cookware.
The clear glass lid fits tightly in a chamfered rim to seal without stinky silicone gaskets. The underside of the lid has downward facing points to distribute condensation evenly back on to the food, for automatic basting. The lid has a four-position vent, for controlling the evaporation rate of a Balsamic Reduction or Dulce de Leche.
An illuminated touchpad on the base also allows access to basic time/temperature settings and your favorite programs directly. The flexibly microperforated fascia conceals four quantum touch keys with snappy tactile feedback and a bright OLED graphic display that powers up when needed and disappears when not in use. Two discreet printed icons indicate buttons for intuitive use.
Cooc’s website is centered around a robust online community of culinary-inclined fanatics. Downloadable user-generated recipe programs and an extensive knowledge base of discussions and tips on Cooc forums creates an open-ended culinary adventure for everyone to share. The exciting part will be discovering how people find new ways to use Cooc, and seeing a community of professional chefs, home cooks, gastronomical hobbyists and budding kitchen scientists grow organically around the product.
We've introduced Cooc to the world as a call to action; to bring to light something we think should exist.
